Hey,
Been a long time since i wrote anything down. anyway, prelims is over, though i don't know how i did, i'm hoping that I passed most of it, but to be blunt, i don't expect to, since I barely studied for it.
I'm so excited about the Juno patch coming to Ragnarok today, i can't wait for my character to be a crusader, wouldn't that be neat. anyway I still need 3 job levels to be at fifty and I don't plan to change class until i reach that.
I'm waiting for my friends text so we can go to the mall and do some grocery and shopping.
No classes today, uhmm...i wonder what I'm going to do with my time.

| Star in A Million 2 : 3rd episode: Take us out of the dark? |
| 07.31.04 (5:50 am) [edit] |
Take us out of the dark….. For the past two weeks we’ve seen some disappointing results, will this week be the week that people would see the light…
Third week of Star in a million and I did not know whether or not I’m excited to see it. Probably because last week Nyko was in the bottom four, I’m afraid that I’ll be seeing her there again. And another thing, I was so into my sleep that I had a hard time rousing myself for 5.30, but I did, unfortunately the show didn’t start until much later. FYI, since it hasn’t started yet I was channel surfing, and I got to see some of the contestants from Pinoy Pop star, color me surprised when I saw a contestant who was in Michael and Frenchie’s batch. I didn’t know how he did, but didn’t they sign a release contract? I don’t know.
Well, some time later, the program started and we were treated to an opening number with the six contestants with Gary V. and Zsa zsa and I saw Nyko playing that instrument the cardboard thing, I don’t know what that’s called, but if I were to hazard a guess, it’s probably a square drum…hehe…who cares Nyko rocks.
Gary V. is there for a reason? Right? And we are all informed that the final six would be singing songs from Gary’s repertoire.
We get to see the judges, it was amusing to note that Direk has a tape on his mouth today, probably because of what he said last week.
It’s now time to see the first performer. O.J. I remember the time when O.J. won the January batch, he really blew me away with his take on Gary’s songs, that I know he’ll probably do well. He’s singing “Take me out of the dark”, it was good, but it didn’t blow me away this time. The way he tried to hit those glory notes, it was commendable, but there were some near misses, that I just didn’t anticipate. There must be something wrong with the text votes though, because we didn’t see a number.
Gary V. speaks first, it seems that he will also be critiquing the performance. He said that he appreciated how he sung the song, and how he veered from the original. Mel said, that this reminded him of how well he did last January and this is what won O.J. the spot, he brought that back. Verni said, that was what got her vote last time and she missed that kind of singing. Fritz stated that no one can gag him (no pun intended) for long and said that O.J. touched him tonight….but he would have preferred it without the background dancers.
Shanna is next and will she be able to raise the bar, she hasn’t been in front of the pack since the start and I wonder would she be able to be up there in the upper tier. She’s singing “Paano?” (I don’t know if that’s the actual title) no doubt about it she has a powerful voice, and her rendition was amazing, although I still note that she still has this hard look, I just don’t like, it’s not there often but it’s there. Once she gets that out of her system she’ll be a consummate performer. I smiled when I heard her whistle, I’ve missed that last week during her solo performance. Did she raise the bar? 3300 text votes said she did, and as for me…You betcha. Let me just say, Shanna welcome to the finals, you’re now making your presence felt.
How did the judges like it. Gary agrees with me and said that she has a powerful voice, but she shouldn’t use that whistling tone that much. Speak for yourself Sir Gary, I for one wouldn’t get tired of it. Mel, said that this song wasn’t sung by a female, but tonight, Shanna did it originally, and he realized that song wasn’t just for males, she did justice to the song. Verni said that she looked and performed beautifully. Direk Fritz said that Gary took the words from his mouth but adds that Shanna is fabulous. Heh, Shanna finally got them.
Nyko is next and I’m really really looking forward to it, I don’t know how she’ll do, but I’m hoping that she won’t bomb. Gary’s song is not R and B, that much we know. She’s singing “Di Bale na lang.” and I’m speechless, she’s awesome. Color me biased but she should win this thing, she’s gorgeous and she’s original. The way she colored that song up, it was a sight and sound to behold. I’m really hoping that I’ll be able to hear her sing in person soon. She garnered some 4000+ votes. She rocks.
What did the panel think? Gary said, that she was the performer among performers, and said that it was a fresh new arrangement of the song, and he loved it. Mel noted that she was also an arranger. (MY God can this gal do everything!!!J), he would have preferred the scat to the swing dancing, but it’s going to be a high score for Nyko. Verni notes that she would have given her a higher score, if she knew that she arranged the song. I’m irked that Verni gave Nyko such low marks to the soul sister. Direk said that Gary took his words again, but notes that Nyko was at her best tonight and I couldn’t agree more. But to be honest, what Verni gave, kind of ruined the moment for me.
Our rock idol is next, and last week, I enjoyed Michael’s jumping and running on the stage, but tonight I’m a little indifferent. He looked like an aerobics instructor dancing as he was singing “Heto na naman.” I didn’t like his performance at all, but the tone was still there, so it wasn’t a total disappointment. He had about 3000 votes as he finished the song.
Gary states that his biggest advantage was he was enjoying what he was doing, and that for him carried the song. Mel said that it was a showstopper. Verni said that he always surprised her, and that she loved it (bias much). Direk Fritz that he’s Gary V’s heir apparent.
The big time belter is next and we would be hearing her take on “Dati rati.” I’m sorry but I wasn’t blown away, I don’t know what she and Michael ate last night, but today just isn’t her day. It was nice to note how she looked though, she was class personified. Unfortunately her performance just wasn’t up to par. She had about 4000+ votes.
Gary exclaims that Frenchie got to his heart and thanks her for it. Mel said that this wasn’t the best that he’s seen her, but that she’ll always be his star. Verni said that she’s still good no matter what song she sings. D.F. agrees with Mel that this wasn’t her best, and he wants his mop back… hehehe (what a scene stealer!!)
Ralph David is our last performer, and as with Nyko I was anticipating his performance, but not because I think he’s great, it’s like when you’re looking forward to see a train wreck, that’s how I see it. He’s performing “Sa Yahweh.” And boy is he…normal, it seems that he’s singing the song in just one tone, I just don’t get how this guy could get about 23700 text votes. I would have to tell him one thing though, he definitely sings better than me.
Gary said that it seems that he didn’t really want to sing that song, that a ballad would be better, and notes that when he’s singing a Christian song he should watch how he dances. I agree, he shouldn’t hold his crotch while he’s singing that type of song. Mel said that the arrangement wasn’t change and he remembers how Gary did it, and it was far from how good the original was. Verni said that Gary said it all, and puts down the mic. While Gary was speaking, I heard someone in the background saying correct, that’s right, I believe that was Verni. D.F applauds Ralph for his effort.
Well, now that the solo performances are done. Michael and Frenchie I’m a little disappointed in this week, because I totally expected them to do well. Shanna was the surprise of the night for me, she would have been number one on my list, if not for the fact that in this genre, is so out of Nyko’s comfort zone, that I just found it amazing that she made it sound original and in my opinion better than the original. This is how I ranked the final six.
1 Nyko 2 Shanna 3 O.J. 4 Frenchie 5 Michael 6 Ralph
So in my opinion, the bottom three should be Frenchie, Michael and Ralph, with Ralph going home. Though I am ready for Ralph to stay for another week, just because text votes count for 50 percent of the total score.
Edu states that O.J. Nyko and Frenchie are safe, so that leaves Shanna, Michael and Ralph as the bottom three. As they were handed some albums, I was a 100 percent sure that Ralph would be leaving us tonight. On the count of three, Ralph, Mike and Shanna, took the record out and we see that Ralph would be the one leaving us tonight.
As they sing the theme we hear that Ralph would continue singing and he’s going back to school. And so it ends, we finally see some light, the one who should have left two weeks ago is finally gone and I look forward to next week.
I just have to say this, it seems that it’s a foregone conclusion that the final three would be Nyko, Michael and Frenchie, with O.J. and Shanna a close fourth, but this early we see the judges having their favorite and Mel would champion Frenchie, and no matter how well Mike does, Verni would not give him a score lower than 9. That leaves DF as the only unbiased judge in my opinion. Sure he likes Nyko, but that hasn’t stopped him from giving Mike and Frenchie higher marks when they performed better than her. Mel, I’m sure that he’ll be able to give credit where credit is due. But tonight, I was disappointed in Verni, it seems to me, that she’s indifferent to Nyko’s effort, and that’s what I found sad, she gave her an 8.1 when the other judges gave her 9.2’s. that so far off the mark, I don’t even find it amusing.
Anyway, next week, we’ll be singing the best five singers left in the competition sing and for once I hope that there would be no elimination next week, just that we see the final five and get them to know them better. That and the fact we wouldn’t get to see the judges, primarily Verni.

Darn stupid
I hate my life especially this computer, here I was pouring my heart out typing like hell because I’ve had one of the best and one of the worst day in my life, and the computer had the microchip, the worm, Trojan or virus to just act up again. Now whether or not I write about it, I don’t know and I don’t care I’m so pissed. Now I don’t feel like typing it all down again, so I’d just swear and continue to be ticked off, I HATE MY LIFE. And you my worthless computer is not working, so piss off.
And the modem and isp or my version of the explorer, the three of you are worthless…………… ……..

Hey,
It's late and I haven't even finished studying. Our preliminary exam on Orthopedic and E.R. are set for tomorrow and I haven't got a clue whether or not I'm ready for it.
I did not even open my notes the last two days. I suppose it's because I'm too old to still be studying yet here I am.
Wish me luck, I hope to be waking up earlier than usual so I can at least pretend to study.
Uhmm....that reminds me I still have to do my laundry tomorrow.
Cheers and good night.

Ralph is in way over his head. Will this time be his time to go. God I hope so.
Okay this is it. I’m so pumped for tonight. I even had to hurry home from greenhills just to be on time. I would be coming to you tonight straight from the comfort of my bed. Will we see the end of Ralph David? Or will we see someone who does not deserve to go, go.
The opening credits roll and we’re good to go. We see footage from last week where our the pretty Jasmine went home. She says that she’s happy she gets to go home (I’m not!!) and she wishes everybody luck. We also get clips of what they’ve done for the past two weeks, from press conference to photo shoots to music videos to band practice. Sigh I miss her.
It starts….Edu, Agot and Cherie welcomes us, and introduces the judges, Mel, Verni and Fritz. Yadda, yadda..Wait, they said something interesting. It seems that we’ll be having a theme tonight, and it’s going to be Rock. From that point on I knew this was going to be Michael’s episode. I hope this continues for the coming weeks. Themes is the way to go.
First up is O.J. Mariano. He’s singing Come together/Disease. I don’t like the song much, and but I do like O.J. and he has quite a stage presence. A performer, but rock is definitely is not his thing. He seems to get lost with his riffs, and that one note near the end made me cringe. His text votes is at 12,000.
Mel said that he was trying hard and it shows. Verni says that the he has an OK rhythm, his voice can sing anything. Fritz declared that he was a dalag na nakuryente, that he was not comfortable..La di da. I don’t know what that means, anyway, he didn’t impress the judges. It’s his bithday by the way. Happy Birthday O.J.
Shanna Hife is next and she’s singing Evanescence’s “Bring me to Life”. Gowned splendidly, she looks great. Kinda reminds me of my classmate. Anyway, it’s was good, but some of the words I didn’t quite understand, but when it came to the chorus, she did it justice. Kudos to her, for coming a long way, she seems more comfortable now. Text votes is at 3000+.
What did the judges think?. Mel said that she can sing rock as well but notes that she didn’t do her trademark whistle and he misses that. I do too. Anyway Verni wishes that Shanna had a fuller voice for the song but the attitude was there. As for Direk Fritz, he just didn’t get it.
Ryan introduces Eman Omaga to sing Incubus’s Wish you were here. Last week I told you I didn’t know what to make of Eman’s voice. I still don’t. He’s adequate. I don’t know what else to say. Wait. I thought this was rock. Why is he wearing clothes fit for Eminem. Anyway, he garnered about 1500 text votes.
Mel said that he had what it takes to sing rock, but visually it just doesn’t click, he doesn’t have the attitude to pull it off. Verni, the resident Paula, said that the song was good, the voice was good, but he doesn’t look like a rocker. As usual with his usual bluntness, Direk told him that he looked like a constipated Sean Penn. Ouch.
The Soul Sister is next, Nyko Maca, I’m excited. I just adore her. She sings “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for.” She worked the stage like a pro, and she infused some of her soul into the song and I’m enjoying end. Except for the note, that almost made me cringe when the sparks behind her started. But it was one missed note, big deal I still love her. As she finished the song, she had 3000 text votes.
Mel states that in the future she will be a class act and he had found what he was looking for. Verni quipped that if she was good, why didn’t he give her a score. Mel retorts that it was out of the scale. She remarks that she likes Nyko’s voice, but it seems she is more suited to R and B and Nyko agrees with her. I do too, but it didn’t make her performance any less credible. Direk Fritz said that he liked that he likes his hat and she has a different vocal quality about her.
The Rock Idol Michael Cruz is next, and as soon as the music started I was out of my seat. Maroon5’s This love. I was jumping with him. He was great. He was so in his element that I almost pitied the contestant that would come before him. Michael I forgive you for last weeks Robbie Williams, you outdid yourself this week. Amazing, just amazing. He finished with more than 3000 votes.
Mel agrees with me and said that so far, this has been Michael’s show, and he’s making a statement. Verni says that there is always something new with Michael and she just loves her. Direk almost got bleeped when he said the swear word, but acclaims that Michael just knows how to connect with the audiences.
Frenchie Dy is next, and she had to wrestle the audience back after Michael. Would she be able to do it? She did, she sang What about Love? And she powered through the lyrics and worked the stage with her dipping and bending. It wasn’t as good as Michael, but it was Frenchie so it was great. She received 3000+ votes as well.
Mel walked over to give Frenchie a hug, he said that she can do it all. Vernie acclaims that her voice and look for tonight was fabulous. Direk asked what’s the gelatin protruding for her breast but says that she was good whatever position she’s own.
Ralph David follows her with U2’s Elevation, and as usual, he showed why he was outclassed in this competition. He just didn’t do it justice and if you can’t do a song justice, or at least imitate it then don’t pick it. He seems to be shouting and speaking at the same time. But again he seems to have a lock on the text votes he garnered almost 29000 votes.
Mel fell asleep, and said that Bono didn’t do it like that, it didn’t sound rock but aesthetically it was pleasing, with the dancers. Vernie a blunter version of Paula it seems says that the attitude was there, but the voice and the notes, were nowhere to be found. Call it what it is Vernie. I don’t know what Direk Fritz had eaten or drank between Frenchie and Ralph performance, but he said that it was one of the better performance that he’s seen. Compared to what? I have to ask. He finishes and said that Ralph was OK.
After the break we are treated to a group number with the finalists from season one, minus Christian and Sheryn, and this years finalist without Jasmine. Theresa and Marinel looked good. I can’t wait for their albums. Anyway, it seems funny that the season one finalist didn’t seem to know the words hehehe. It seems they didn’t practice.
Anyway it was enjoyable and I get to listen to Shanna’s whistle near the end. I can’t wait for their album to come out. Anyway it seems that they were there because their album sold 30000 copies, thus declared Platinum (on a note that in the US you have to sell a million copies before being declared platinum). I’m happy for them. They made me love the show.
Anyway, the results are almost upon us and how did I think the contestant did. Well, this is how I ranked them.
1 Michael 2 Frenchie 3 Nyko 4 Shanna 5 O.J. 6 Eman 7 Ralph
So if there were justice in the world it would be Ralph who’ll be leaving us tonight.
Anyway, Edu and Cherie is back with the results. He called Michael, Frenchie and O.J. forward and declared them safe. What Nyko is in danger? That’s unbelievable. Anyway the bottom four is Shanna, Nyko, Eman and Ralph and to see who gets to leave us, they are going to raise some plastic sword from a rock and they would find out their fate. Ralph is on the blue sword, Nyko is on yellow, Eman is on green and Shanna gets to have the red sword.
I was comfortable, Nyko wouldn't be leaving us, and Shanna gave a credible performance. I’m scared for Eman but last week Jasmine got the green cake, so it couldn’t be two weeks in a row that green would be the one to leave us. Besides, Ralph pooled so low on the judges, that no way would the text votes save him now. One, two, three, Ralph is safe, which means that Eman is the one leaving us tonight. Eman says that he’s going to continue singing and work on his craft. Good for you.
Okay, I was right with what I said last week. Eman was in danger of going out because of Ralph. And until the text voters come to their senses we’ll probably see Shanna leaving us next week.
Until then. See you.
